"Nilko chose the panda in reference to the comic strip published by Tignous in 2010 with the support of the WWF. The album "Pandas in the Mist" (published by Glénat) was created to raise awareness about the protection of this endangered species, of which there were only 1,600 specimens left in the wild at the time.
It took the Viry-Châtillon artist four days to create this mural using spray cans and acrylic paint. For this six-story tribute, Nilko reproduced Tignous's watercolors but also drew inspiration from the cartoon "Pandas in the Mist," released after the artist's death.
