St Pauls Bay, Rhodes. Legend has it the saint landed here at some point. Whatever the case, the place is gorgeous and it is completely understandable why I witnessed three marriage proposals and one wedding on the little dock in 45 min while waiting for my dive buddy.

Rhodes, the acropolis. Used to honor several gods and godesses over the years and also used for other purposes, like many other similar buildings around the world that are so old.

Rhodes, day and night from aproximately the same spot, just above the city about to take the stairs to find something to eat.

Hard to believe this is so close to the ocean, it´s like a different world a few miles apart from the other.

Natural Pools Charco Azul, Santa Cruz de la Palma. Where all those crabs were fighting and tearing each other´s legs off.

Crabs holding on to the rocks. You see them here all nice and quiet, but they were fighting each other a lot. More than one crab leg was lost to a fight that day and was just floating around me while I was taking a plunge.

Natural ocean water pools in La Fajana, Santa Cruz de la Palma. If the waves are high and strong enough, you see that big pool full of wave foam and can watch it retract before the next wave comes.

Poris de la Candelaria, Santa Cruz de la Palma. I read it was built by fishermen who would use it as a warehouse or by field workers escpaping the heat in the summer. Their wives would go up to the town to sell the produce. With time, the small warehouses were expanded to tiny livable places, partially used as a small vacation home.

It´s a long way up taking the stairs leading out of this sort of cave all the way up along the cliff. It´s beautiful, but not a good idea if you are not in a good physical condition. You arrive by car to a parking lot where you then start going down the stairs. It´s at least 30 min by foot until you get down. Takes longer if you stop to take picture along the way :)

Walking down the mountain, Poris de la Candelaria. Small living areas literally embedded in the mountain all the way down to the water.
