"Starshine" — a canopy of stars above Big Laguna and the upper Laguna Meadows, lit by a waxing half moon; Laguna Mountains, California; photographed in August 2011.

I got stuck in some old folders of images today and inevitably, had to re-work some of them.

Not a masterpiece by any means (I was just dabbling in some night photography at the time) and the difference between old and new digital sensors is notable... but the difference that just the software makes is simply remarkable.

AI-Denoise in particular, and AI-based detection of the features in this scene (in order to address them with local adjustments) have made it so much easier to create a much more compelling photograph and in much less time too.

I find it exciting to have these tools available, and YMMV but these continued improvements are well worth the subscription fee for me.
