The Prickly Prince From Microsoft Strikes Again | TechCrunch

Dare Obasanjo, a Microsoft employee and the son of a former President of Nigeria, doesn't like it when people disagree with him. I found that out in 2007 when Obasanjo vandalized the TechCrunch Wikipedia page in response to a post we wrote that was mildly critical of Microsoft's hiring of a blogger to edit certain Wikipedia entries relating to Open Office standards. His actions as an individual and as a representative of Microsoft were outrageous. Today he writes a post accusing us of "encouraging...garbage" on TechCrunch because we've reported on the market fall over the last week, pointing to three examples (out of over 100 posts last week) where we chronicle the fall of Yahoo and Google stock, and the Seesmic layoffs. A number of other blogs jumped on the bandwagon, calling for the negativity to stop (obviously none of these writers read TechCrunch this last week). "The last thing we need is popular blogs AND the mass media spreading despair and schadenfreude at a time like this," he says.

ANALYSIS | The strengths and limits of Pierre Poilievre's 'common sense' | CBC News

If an election were held tomorrow, polls suggest Pierre Poilievre would defeat Justin Trudeau and become the 24th prime minister of Canada. And if an election were to happen tomorrow, the Conservative leader says the choice would be quite straightforward.

#Scams #Fraud #NigerianPrince Please be careful people. We have noticed Mastodon is not immune from #Phishing profiles. In common with any site we can give you some pointers and warnings.
They have an empty profile.
Pictures look too good to be real. In fact they may be stolen from porn sites or are dashing soldiers or medical people, but do a reverse image search. (Yandex is excellent at that.)
They follow you for no reason and there is an obvious age difference.
They use odd names similar to Luvbaby123.
They do one toot that says little,
They do not participate or relate to anything in a way real people do.
This list is not definitive so use your judgement and do not share personal info. DO NOT SEND MONEY, CARDS, or BITCOIN-- EVER.
Report your suspicions to admins and mods Hopefully, action will be taken, unlike on Fakebook and other social media sites.
So, the #NigerianPrince scam has moved on, son got a letter addressed to our address supposedly from someone in Japan, tallking about a possible windfall from someone with a similar name who'd died in the #COVID pandemic. Bless, didn't realise people were still falling for this type of junk mail, and for that matter didn't realise scammers were still wasting their time sending this junk out.
