It’s hard to explain to the Youngs what life was like in the 90’s pre-Internet. There are a few examples of art that rode the line of before and after. Northern Exposure was one of them. Watch this compilation for a taste of how weird and wonderful it was:

The “Final Frontier” ep mixes Japan’s economic ascendancy, tourism, homophobia, children’s books (Paddle to the Sea), the Voyager’s departure from the Heliosphere, the individual vs wilderness, and the social experience of private property, and so much more.
