If you live in the State of New York, you should be aware that the State Senate is discussing a bill to require age verification (not just age attestation) on the OS level. If you do not live in New York, you should still be aware of this, since your government is probably considering something similar. And when you do contact your representatives, try not to just tell them that you think the bill sucks (although that's still a lot better than nothing)—tell them what you would do to accomplish the goals _better_. Services on the internet which are harmful to minors are a problem, but the real problem is that those services are harmful to everyone, often with no meaningful way to opt out; so I recommended online consumer protection legislation instead, along with a number of smaller ways to make the currently proposed bill either better or less bad, in hopes that something sticks. Go do the same!
