If you're new to #mastodon and on a smaller instance, profiles that you find might seem kind of empty. Your instance hasn't seen their feed yet because no one on your server follows them!

You can see their full profile pretty easily so that you can decide if you want to follow them and start bringing their posts to your instance.

When you're viewing their profile on their server, clicking on "Follow" will prompt you for your home server.

I'm finding Mastodon a bit confusing. So far, I have managed to get my feed filled up with pictures of cats, which, of course, must be considered a good start. Now, if I can only figure out how to navigate the servers and multiple accounts, this might be a nice place to be.

I have to be honest, I'm still a little bit confused about how different fediverse platforms do and don't connect to each other - and whether it makes sense to try to do everything with just one account on one platform, or to have separate accounts on all of them.. but I'm happy to be here nonetheless. Now I have to figure out who and what to follow!

Question, are people on Mastodon as willing to become close as on Bluesky? A lot of my Bluesky friends also became Discord etc friends and I don't know if it's similar here
