Richard Ackland's take on The Wilcox Saga:
----------------------------------------------------
Cathy Wilcox's cartoon... has fallen foul of the poodles at the Australian Press Council, who found it "encodes the antisemitic tropes that Jewish people secretly control or manipulate global events. The council considers this imagery was likely to cause or contribute to substantial offence, distress and prejudice particularly to those who are Jewish".

Other people thought it was a cartoon satirising the shouty pile-on demanding a royal commission into the Bondi terror attack.

That pile-on was led by the Moloch tissues [Murdoch media] who campaigned along with elements of the Jewish lobby to have Wilcox put in the stocks for her "Jew-hating cartoon".

It wasn't so long ago that The Catholic Boys Daily was defending Bill Leak's cartoons - one of an Indigenous man who was too drunk to remember his son's name, and another depicting poor Indians eating solar panels sent as aid by the UN. No finding by the Press Council of substantial offence, distress or prejudice in either case.

Cathy Wilcox's punishment is to walk on eggshells.

Ms Wilcox responds.
----------------------------------
When asked (by Sky) about her cartoon and the Sydney Morning Herald's decision to apologise on her behalf, Ms Wilcox sent an abusive email.

“Why in God's name do you think I would answer the questions of Murdoch's petty little propaganda operation, to give them more fuel for their campaign of hatred?” she said.

“The irony of me having to answer to charges of hatred when your grubby outfit gives not one shit about what you do to people you target.

“Remind the boss about how much they cared about free speech when one of theirs was in the spotlight. Political correctness gone mad, eh? You and your hit squad goons can fuck right off.”

-------------------
Social media user Rosco The Grouch, who claims to be a retired secondary school teacher, labelled the decision to apologise to Jewish Australians “simpering. Sycophantic. Blather”.

He added: “So much for the once great SMH. Maybe (Cathy Wilcox) ought to consider joining a paper that has some integrity.”

Wilcox responded: “Do you know of any?”

#NewsCorp isn’t about #News. All of its outlets are simply #Authoritarian #Propaganda spewing machines or #InfoTainment channels devoid of any #SocialLicence. The sooner we change #MediaOwnership rules the sooner we’ll clean up the air around our #FourthEstate and return to #SociallyResponsible #News and #information nurturing #Healthy #PublicDebates and #SocialDemocracy.

Murdoch’s papers spent years screaming that tax cuts for billionaires would “trickle down”.
Now Labor tweaks super concessions for the ultra wealthy and suddenly it’s “class war”, “economic vandalism” and the end of civilisation.
Amazing how News Corp only discovers fiscal responsibility when rich people might pay tax.

News Corp’s budget stitch-up

Labor’s budget has been met with the fiercest negative media campaign since Julia Gillard’s carbon tax, but the party is no longer scared of News Corp.

Crikey | Why is News Corp attacking tax reform? Because it’s actually a real estate company by Christopher Warren

AI generated summary, Read the full article for complete information.

News Corp is fiercely opposing budget property‑tax reforms because the company’s biggest financial engine is its majority ownership of REA Group, a global real‑estate advertising firm valued at about $13.75 billion—roughly 65 % of News Corp’s total market value—making the media conglomerate effectively a real‑estate company in its balance sheet; this stake ties its fortunes to the intersection of digital technology and real‑estate, allowing it to ride the wave of Australia’s housing boom that was amplified by the Howard government’s 1999 50 % capital‑gains‑tax discount.

News Corp’s controlling share of REA Group is worth about $13.75 billion — about 65% of News Corp's entire market value. No wonder The Australian is tut-tutting so hard.

The Monster They Made (Part 1)

The coup did not sow the seeds for the Islamic Revolution. It constructed the machinery. SAVAK liquidated every secular democrat who might have led a modern Iran. The mosque was left standing because it was the one institution the secret police found too difficult to penetrate. Every morning the Australian media tells us the bombing is regrettable but the regime is monstrous. It does not explain who built the regime.
