This battered Boss DS-1 caught my attention. Asked the seller where it was made. Taiwan, so not the more sought after Japanese version. But the thing is, early Taiwanese versions were basically the same as their Japanese counterparts, up until 1994. Then Boss started using a dual opamp instead of the TA7136 IC which meant the design had to be changed.

So could this be an early Taiwanese version with the much desired Toshiba IC?

Here's the analog delay I came across on Marktplaats, the Dutch eBay branch. It's an Ibanez ADL from the Master series, the successor to the AD9. As far as I know it's practically the same as an AD9.

You gotta love those 300ms of bucket-brigade device delay time!

Stumbled upon an old analog delay and the seller also offered this Boss SD-1. Tried one years ago and I liked it back then. Price was right so asked the seller to add it to my purchase. When it came in I was curious of course, what version would it be?

Well, it looks like the made in Taiwan version but it does have the JRC4558DD opamp. So it's a good one. Sounds great and comes with the bleeding issue which is another giveaway that this is an older unit.

#NewPedalDay but belated. Received an #EHX Nano Q-tron over the holidays. Finally got to hooking it up to give it a spin. I like how effects which react to dynamics really make you more deliberate with your attack. What songs does #GearSquad suggest to learn with it?
