I was induced early for several reasons but it was definitely the right call as she's thrived out the womb - feeding about every two hours and growing! I had the Foley balloon induction method plus hormone drip and sweep. After the sweep I passed out, wasn't the best experience having the waters broke with a rod and then a hand up there! Everyone's experience is different - my other children were over due (so I've never had an earlier one) and I had 2 previous inductions and sweeps but I think every pregnancy is different and I'm older than I was! I've also been on blood thinner injections post birth which are savage. I had a cannula which had 3 different things going into it - the hormones, electrolytes and antibiotics to prevent strep B. Labour induction wasn't going great, to the point it was almost an emergency c-section due to cord compression/cord wrapped round the neck and she was born needing some CPAP assistance and a hot cot for a day, plus having her bloods monitored due to my gestational diabetes - however, all was well and we were allowed to go home. I have my bloods tested in about 2 weeks to see if I've developed type 2 diabetes and will have my bloods done once a year to monitor it. She weighed 2306g (rounded up to 5lb 1oz) and was only on the 1.1 centile - and 46 1/2cm! Born VE day (8th May) at 11.14am. My mum was there to deliver the baby which was a beautiful moment and also delivered the placenta - she has always been the best labour partner but having her there to deliver my baby meant the world (for context she is a midwife) oh and my placenta - I decided to take that home and plant under a new rose plant 🙈 I don't know why. It felt symbolic somehow. My family came to visit and I did gender reveal cookies prior which was fun to make plus did all colour themed sweets to give to the kids when they came to pick us up from hospital plus got the kids little gifts - it's been an adjustment with 3 kids and a newborn but we will slowly get there."
