Bremerhaven’s Bürgermeister‑Smidt‑Gedächtniskirche (the “Große Kirche”) is pure red‑brick neo‑Gothic drama, its spire stitching the sky above the city centre. Designed by Simon Loschen and dedicated in 1855, it was burned out in 1944 and rebuilt by 1960 — a memorial to Mayor Johann Smidt and a true harbour‑city landmark. // #Bremerhaven #GrosseKirche #BuergermeisterSmidtGedaechtniskirche #JohannSmidt #SimonLoschen #NeoGothic #BrickGothic #ChurchArchitecture #HistoricArchitecture #MitteBremerhaven #ArchitecturePhotography
Rathaus Lehe in Bremerhaven at night — a beautifully lit neo-Gothic façade with its distinctive central archway. The building was originally erected in 1865 as a poorhouse and orphanage, remodelled in 1887 in neo-Gothic style (plans by Carl Pogge), and expanded in 1907 (plans by Heinrich Lagershausen). Today it’s a protected heritage building and part of Bremerhaven’s local history. //

30. New College

🧠This is one of my favourite buildings in Edinburgh.

⭐The stone came up really well.

➡️ Twigs and branches nearest the camera look a bit shaky as well as blurred which I find a bit distracting.

PIERHEAD BUILDING - Since it looks a bit like the clock tower at the Palace of Westminster, people often call it the “Welsh Big Ben.” It was originally the headquarters of the Bute Docks Company, but today it’s part of the Welsh Parliament complex. Since 2010, it’s been open to the public as a museum and is also used for events.

PIERHEAD BUILDING - The Pierhead Building is a well-known historic building in Cardiff, the capital of Wales. It was built in 1897 in a neo-Gothic style and designed by Welsh architect William Frame, who also worked on Cardiff Castle and Castell Coch. The building really stands out because of its red terracotta exterior and its location right by Cardiff Bay.
