Neil Young`s Zuma – Von hotfox 63

Einer meiner Lieblingsscheiben von 1975 ist Neil Young’s „Zuma“. Es ist ein Album, das mich in seiner inneren Konsistenz von Text und Melodie, Gesang und Instrumentierung noch heute überzeugt. Zentrales Thema von „Zuma“ ist die Liebe – verlorene Liebe. Bewältigung des Vergangenen, das Wiederfinden der eigenen Persönlichkeit und vorsichtiges Suchen nach neuer Bindung. Das Stadium von Schmerz und Verzweiflung ist überwunden. Young äussert sich in milder Resignation, ein wenig Wehmut klingt an, und es gelingen ihm sogar ein paar Stücke von bemerkenswert aggressiver Verärgerung.

Eine lange Instrumentalpassage, die mit unaufdringlicher Intensitätssteigerung eine sehr entspannte Stimmung schafft, leitet das ausgedehnte Epos „Cortez the Killer“ ein … https://hotfox63.com/?wref=pil

Perfect album for today.

One of my three favorite Neil Young albums.
So many classic Neil tunes here, the pinnacle being “Cortez The Killer”.
However, it’s some of the other songs that make this so easy to consistently revisit.

“Don’t Cry No Tears” and “Danger Bird” and “Pardon My Heart” are all criminally underrated Neil tunes.

Incas + aztecs + a breakup with Carrie Snodgress = a near flawless rock record. 😂
