My first "real" #FreeCAD project is a screw adjuster and knob, both for a #StitchingStand I designed for my wife's #NeedleCrafts friends. The adjuster is in two mating parts with a hidden thread in the handle and a shaft in the threaded part. A tension bolt will hold them in compression and adjust jaw clamps to hold a stitching frame.
It was a fun and not too steep learning curve. FreeCAD is the first CAD software that "speaks to me".
thought by mid-year i would have reached much further on this but i guess i was wrong... at least doing cross stitch is always fun and relaxing...

Some of the pictures I took in Tunbridge, Vermont, where I attended the Vermont Sheep & Wool Festival. One vendor didn't just have an Emotional Support Chicken on display, the chicken had pasties or tassels covering its breasts. The needle-felted witch is so cool, and I got to talk to the maker about the process of making her.
The stitching stands I posted about recently now have a dedicated landing page at https://stitchingstands.com/
Check it out, and tell your stitching friends!
and the stitching continues... i'm trying to do some of section 2 on this project... right now i'm using DMC3761 and soon i'll be filling in with DMC964...

A couple of years ago I made a custom stitching stand for Jayne. She and her stitching friends have been "requesting" I make more, and I finally did. The first batch of 5 sold out within days. The second batch, with a vastly improved custom clamp, is now available at https://fabrikisto.com/product/stitching-frame-stand-for-table-or-lap/.
If you or a "special someone" you know is into embroidery, cross-stitch, other needle crafts, even painting, maybe you could benefit from one of these stands!
Wu Wanjing is head of #Xinyu (a city in east China's #Jiangxi Province) Xiabu #EmbroideryArt Research Institute. As a municipal-level inheritor of xiabu (literally "cloth for summer") embroidery #crafts, she has led her team in inheriting and promoting the art form for years. "I think xiabu embroidery is not only a #TraditionalHandicraft, but also an expression of #culture. I hope my work will help people #learn about the craft. I will always do my best to develop intangible cultural heritage," Wu says.
#Xiabu, a traditional #handmade #textile, is made from #China #grass, also known as #ramie. The linen is comfortable, durable and easy to wash. Xinyu has a long #history of both planting ramie and producing xiabu. Xiabu #embroidery is a unique type of embroidery in Jiangxi. In 2014, #China added #XiabuEmbroidery to an extended list of the country's items of intangible #CulturalHeritage.

Yesterday I started knitting again after years of not knitting a single stitch. I forgot how much I love it. ππ§Ά
All the stitches came back to me as soon as I picked the needles up again. I didn't have to look up how to do any of it, I guess it must be muscle memory. π
