Tomorrow (Fri 2026-05-15) there will be a kind of charity-ride here on Naxos. At 10:00 from the harbour in town cycling up to Apeiranthos.
My legs are a bit tired, I was planning a rest day, but I'll go. I'm really curious who will show up and take part. If I understand the announcement correctly, it will be a very leisurely pace. Some friends will be there too.

Nick#Naxos is such a beautiful island to explore on a motorcycle. I had an epic day exploring. Started with a drive over the mountains, then down to the far south-east coast to Panermos. Then up to the abandoned Schmirgel Mine where I road some great steep tracks up a mountain. Then the megalithic Kouros of Apollon, the Tower of Aghiá, Old Jesuits Resort at Kalamitsia, and finally a hillside view of the massive mountaintop marble quarry nearby.
The island of #Naxos has been so much fun! I’ve done some epic off-road riding (video coming soon) and also explored so many different beautiful sites.

The smell of sea, sunscreen, and sweat … I'm out cycling, currently stopped at the beach in Apollona. This is the most northern village on Naxos. I like it, because the cafés on the beach have this old 80s summer vacation feeling to them. Life could be worse.
Back in 2017 I had started to make a site / blog about #cycling on #Naxos. I wrote some great articles, but soon lost motivation and stopped.
Today I cycled with someone who had found that site (and found it useful) before meeting me (first online, then IRL).
It kinda makes me consider re-starting that little side-project. No idea if I could actually hold the motivation longer on a second try.

This is not the sunset: on April 1st 2026 we had a huge storm with massive quantities of dust from North Africa. This happens from time to time in #Greece, but I've never seen it so intense, so brutal. At 16:30 it was basically night. I took this pic at 17:45. Later it started to pour down rain, covering everything in red sludge.
