Got myself some Navidrome and Jellyfin. Previously this was just in my Nextcloud, and quite frankly did pretty well. No complaints.
So why add? A major part of the motivation for selfhosting is for the learning exercise. Adding stuff to juggle is part of that.
It also just pleases me to see the stack and documentation grow.

TOϺΛZ@momo In our case we’re storing other data on server anyway, photos, videos important documents etc. so adding #Navidrome and a bit more storage wasn’t big diff. Server is low power and passive cooled, few spinning rust HDDs are making negligible difference in power bill but owned files won’t dissapear due to legal difficulties between content/streaming provider and publisher/artist.

This is a tiny fraction of what you get when subscribing to a #streaming service. It is music I bought since my childhood. Nowadays I would just use a streaming service. Streaming is so much cheaper and has a lot more music to listen to. But well, somehow I run a #navidrome server and listen to it.
If I would sell all these for 1 Euro each I could subscribe for 10 years to a streaming service.
