Let's be honest. Most decision-makers have very little idea of the numbers behind the #climatecrisis or #NatureCrisis

All UK parliamentarians have been invited to a National Emergency Briefing #NEB2025 covering threats to food supply, hydrology, national security, nature, weather extremes and economics.

There are individual video invitations to each MP - here's one to MP for #Leyton and #Wanstead #CalvinBailey.

We surveyed British MPs – most don’t know how urgent climate action is

New study finds both MPs and the public underestimate how quickly global emissions must be cut.

The extinction crisis isn’t just harming nature—it’s affecting our bodies too. Scientists warn of huge health risks as biodiversity declines, linking ecosystem collapse to rising disease and mental health issues. 🧠🌿 #NatureCrisis #Health #Biodiversity

The nature extinction crisis is mirrored by one in our own bodies. Both have huge implications for health

#ClimateCrisis #NatureCrisis #NEBriefing Downing Street has blocked a government report warning that the collapse of rainforests, reefs and mangroves could push up food prices in UK supermarkets. Officials reportedly feared it was “too negative” and might raise questions about what the UK is actually doing to prevent ecosystem collapse.

'Repair' much of the past two centuries of degradation
Australia’s environment could be fixed and threatened species saved for just 0.3% of GDP

The "Wentworth Group of Concerned Scientists estimates $7.3bn a year for 30 years could avoid most extinctions, repair soils and restore rivers."

"Australia’s spectacular and unique landscapes and beloved wildlife were a drawcard for domestic and international tourists alike, bringing billions of dollars into the Australian economy every year ... Many Australians did not realise that “all of this is genuinely under threat”.

Top scientists call on Australian Government to allocate federal funding towards nature protection and management

"Australia is facing a nature crisis. We are the only developed country on the global list of deforestation hotspots, with 40% of our forests destroyed since European settlement.[ 19 Australian ecosystems are showing signs of collapse. And we are facing one of the highest species extinction rates in the world, with the overall state of our environment on a consistent downward trend."

"The continued degradation of nature will have significant consequences and economic impact on industries such as tourism, food production and agriculture. At least 49% of Australia’s GDP is dependent on healthy nature...We just need the political will. "
