In Remembrance
On this day in 1864, U.S. army attacked a village of unarmed Cheyenne and Arapaho people at Big Sand Creek. Not only was the village flying a flag of truce and had been guaranteed safety by the government, the attack was on the women, children, and Elders of the village and took place while the warriors were out hunting. Over 230 Cheyenne and Arapaho People were killed,mostly women,children, and elders
