For the next 50 weeks, I/we will be baking scones; 1 variety per week

All the recipes are from the National Trust Scone Recipe Book which starts of with the basic varieties and then works in increasingly more interesting ones.

The main issue I foresee is they'll need to be converted to be lactose-free

Called in at the National Trust's Benningbrough Hall, which overlooks the River Ouse near Newton-on-Ouse in North Yorkshire.
Unfortunately, spent so much time enjoying the gardens in the lovely spring sunshine, that the hall itself was closing by the time I got to the main doors (will have to return!).
I gather that the gardens are currently undergoing a redesign by garden designer Andy Sturgeon and what a job he is doing – they are just stunning, with many newly laid out and planted areas since I last visited.
