National day of Sweden! since i have removed Google from my phone all my old photos are on a hard drive (And Proton!) So I found these photos with the Swedish flag! My old and trustworthy car (26 years old nowdays) parked in the hangar of the Search and rescue helicopter which i used to work on, I will share more at some point.
Anyway have a wonderful National day fellow Swedes, even if we do not celebrate it all too much!

Many national flags have their own names. Not ours. It harks back to the time of Gustav Vasa in the 1550s; its present-day design was set in 1906.

I never celebrate our national day, but today, for once we'll go see some serious rejoicing. Happy happy, everyone!

Edit: I've been saving this pic for years, only knowing it used to adorn the public library in old Kiruna. But the other day I saw the whole work at an exhibition at Kiasma in Helsinki. The artist is Lena Stenberg (see my comment below).

Our day 1/3

On June 6, 1523, Sweden left the Kalmar Union and became independent for good. Commemorating this event began in 1916, but the day was not made National Day until 1983.
