Can cells break the laws of thermodynamics?
Our preprint investigates the current scientific controversy. Using our nanosensor, we addressed unexpected artifacts and measured temperature with record accuracy inside cells.

The remarkable work from P. Maurer's lab also independently reports similar artifacts.

Investigating intracellular heating rates with millikelvin nanothermometry

Nanothermometry within living cells is an important endeavour in physics,as the mechanisms of heat diffusion in such complex and dynamic environments remain poorly understood. In biology, nanothermometry may offer new insights into cellular biology and open new avenues for drug-discovery. Previou...

Hi everyone,
It’s #introduction time. Thanks for having us!
We are the nanomaterials for BioImaging Group (nanoBIG) at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, focusing on the #synthesis, #characterization and application of luminescent #nanoparticles for #imaging and #sensing.
This includes research on #luminescene for remote #nanothermometry, the use of optical tweezers for trapping particles, and the development of contrast agents for near-infrared imaging and optical coherence tomography (#OCT).

The nanomaterials for BioImaging Group www.nanobig.eu at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid is looking for a PhD student in a highly interdisciplinary group, working on the use of #nanoparticles for #bioimaging and diagnostics of inflammation, The project ranges from the #synthesis over characterization and #biofunctionalization of nanoparticles towards their application for #nanothermometry and #luminescence imaging in the near-infrared.

Thanks for sharing!
