Significa “saggezza”, in arabo, il suo nome. Zaynab Dosso è la donna più veloce del mondo: sua una delle cinque medaglie del Mondiale indoor di atletica leggera in Polonia. Ed è diventata la prima italiana a vincere una medaglia d’oro in una gara di velocità tra Mondiali e Olimpiadi. A Torun ha vinto i 60 metri in 7” netti. Spedizione fortunata quella in Polonia, dove l’Italia è arrivata terza nel medagliere, con tre ori e due argenti, a conferma del momento speciale dell’atletica italiana.
Dosso ha 26 anni. È nata a Man, in Costa D’Avorio, nel settembre del 1999. È arrivata in dieci anni in Italia, nel 2009, per raggiungere la famiglia che ci si era trasferita sette anni prima. È cresciuta a Rubiera, in provincia di Reggio Emilia, e ha ottenuto la cittadinanza nel 2016. Già praticava atletica leggera. Dosso dal 2021 vive a Roma, dove si allena con Giorgio Frinolli.
Oro nei 60 metri ai Mondiali indoor di Torun, bronzo nei 60 metri ai mondiali a Glasgow nel 2024, argento a ai mondiali a Nanchino nel 2025, oro agli Europei di Roma nel 2025. A Torun, a febbraio, aveva stabilito il suo record, 6,99, il miglior tempo dell’anno – il record di Irina Privalova di 6,92 resiste dal 1993. Non era riuscita a qualificarsi alla finale dei 100 metri ai Mondiali di Tokyo nel 2025, anche i risultati dei Giochi di Parigi erano stati deludenti tanto da farla pensare addirittura al ritiro.
Al Corriere della Sera ha raccontato come il suo oro sia nato a Tokyo nel 2021, alle Olimpiadi Estive in Giappone, quando Marcell Jacobs vinse la medaglia d’oro nei 100 metri. “I bronzi iridati indoor e europeo a Roma mi hanno fatto capire che ero sulla strada giusta, poi ai Giochi di Parigi è andata male, sono entrata in crisi: fare un viaggio in Costa d’Avorio, dove sono nata, mi ha permesso di ritrovarmi come persona. Mi arrovellavo troppo, ho iniziato a fare pilates anche per fermare i pensieri. E sono arrivati gli ori di Apeldoorn e Torun”. A questo punto si dedicherà sulle competizioni della stagione all’aperto.

Dosso is 26 years old. She was born in Man, Ivory Coast, in September 1999. She arrived in Italy ten years ago, in 2009, to join her family who had moved there seven years earlier. She grew up in Rubiera, in the province of Reggio Emilia, and obtained citizenship in 2016. She already practiced athletics. Dosso has lived in Rome since 2021, where she trains with Giorgio Frinolli.
