Pour faire ressortir les fleurs peintes j'ai finalement choisi un biais rose fluo. Merci pour vos nombreux conseils ! 😊

this is the dress i made using fabric scraps from Nani Iro. i think the lovely fabric gives it an airy drape and makes me feel unusually elegant? (more on fabric in previous post)
this was made with the Sun Dress design from an incredible book Zero Waste Patterns by @birgittahelmersson where the entire fabric was used in constructing the garment. as the patchwork fabric was already pieced from scraps i didn’t want to create more scraps from making the dress.

as i did so i got to examine every different type of fabric and appreciate their beauty and quality. i learnt that fabric design can be a total art form, and that’s not just about making a digital design and having it printed. the masterful hand painted watercolours, the layering and textures of the printed ink, as well the translucency and depth of the fabric, together create a textile that is 3 dimensional and very much alive.
we visited ATELIER to nani IRO on one of the last days before they closed. it felt like such a special time to be there, so i picked up a mixed bag of fabric even though they are not the typical colours i would choose. the fabric pieces were scraps that had been carefully saved and put together for someone else to make something of. i admire that spirit of not letting anything go to waste.
when i got back i wanted to see if i could join all these pieces together.

Finally, after weeks of procrastinating, this jacket is done. Pattern is from the book Nani Iro Sewing Studio. I shortened the length of the jacket; original is more of a coat.
Also, I added a lining and this was my first time sewing one. I hand sewed it to the jacket. It's not perfect, but good enough. I learned what not to do next time.
Overall, this was an easy pattern and I'll probably use it again for a lightweight linen summer coat.
