Mon Oncle, 1958

Elisabeth Amsterdamer, aka Betty Schneider or Betty Schneider-Raffaelli, French actress, was born in 1934 (Lens).

She also acted in Paris nous appartient, a film I highly recommend (Jacques Rivette, 1961 - Cahiers director of the Nouvelle Vague).
Betty Schneider as Betty, Landlord's Daughter/la fille de la concierge (charming both young and older).

3/3 proof #myuncle and #moncle are two movies not one!

Mon Oncle + My Uncle are different films. My Uncle won the Oscar in 1959.

An English version is 9 minutes shorter and released as My Uncle. (filmed at the same time)
There are slight differences in the staging of the scenes and in the performances. In My Uncle, French signs are replaced by English signs; important dialogue is dubbed in English, although background voices remain in French.

Here you see 'Ecole'.. in My Uncle you would see 'School'.

The #sound is so important in all of Tati’s #movies.
But… even the absence of sound has a (gag)meaning. In Mon Oncle there’s this scene with Gérard Arpel who ‘studies’ in silence in order to let his parents believe he’s actually studying instead of playing around with his 'toys’.

The still belongs to #MonOncle and the book I photographed belonged to #MyUncle’s props ('natural history'). There are plenty of differences between Mon Oncle and My Uncle.
