Vacancies: assistant or associate professor level cancer researchers

The University of Oxford and the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research are adding to our growing group of cancer researchers. We are seeking individuals at early to mid-stage career stages (Assistant or Associate Professor level).

CAR-T cells vs bispecific monoclonal antibodies in #myeloidcells
'A retrospective study of 73 TCR patients included in trials was conducted: 36 received CAR-T and 37 received BiAbs. CAR-T produced a higher overall response rate (ORR) than BiAbs (97.1% vs. 56.8%, P=0.002). After a median of follow-up of 18.7 months, no significant difference in progression-free survival (PFS) was observed between the CAR-T and BiAbs groups (16.6 vs. 10.8 months; P=0.090), whereas overall survival (OS) was significantly longer in the CAR-T than in the BiAbs group (49.2 vs. 22.6 months; P=0.021).'

"We showed that treatment with an agonist against the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor superfamily member CD40 in combination with a soluble β-glucan (BG), which targets the C-type lectin receptor (CLR) Dectin-1, was sufficient to trigger productive immunosurveillance in ICB-resistant mouse models of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma."

Antitumor cell activity in glioblastoma regulated by inhibiting triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2

While the importance of the triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2) is known in brain microglial function during neurodegenerative diseases, the function of the TREM2 cell receptor/protein is unknown in glioblastoma tumors. In a new report in Science Advances, Rui Sun, and a research team in the departments of neurosurgery, pathology, anesthesiology and developmental biology at the Washington University School of Medicine, in the U.S., found the cell receptor to be highly expressed in myeloid subsets including macrophages and microglia, by using examples of human and mouse glioblastoma tumors.

Anti-CTLA-4 antibodies drive myeloid activation and reprogram the tumor microenvironment through FcγR engagement and type I interferon signaling - Nature Cancer

Yofe et al. demonstrate that FcγR engagement early after anti-CTLA-4 blockade induces a rapid remodeling of innate immunity and activation of type I interferon signaling, which are crucial for successful anti-CTLA-4 therapy.
