@mattblaze occasionally notes the problems of the Mastodon HOA, mostly when they attack him for absolutely no comprehensible reason. Today was one such.

You can reliably assume that a bunch of mastoscolds will turn up in the replies to his (reasonable) description of what happened, downplaying the problem, insisting it's not that big a deal, that "you just block them, man, problem solved", or even threatening not to respond to his posts anymore (Don't you threaten me with a good time!).

And (finally) my point: those replies are an *excellent* source of accounts to mute or block. Problem solved, indeed.

Why do muted posts keep showing up?
How can i fix this? Its annoying. I can mute, but some posts keep showing up over and over again anyway.
Btw: same for blocked stuff...

#Mute and #Block on sight

Bye...

Periodic reminder:

If you "boost all the things," I'm going to mute your boosts from my timeline.

I bet I'm not the only one doing this.

I've had to do this yesterday and today.

Depeche Mode, People Are People, 1984 on Sire / Mute

Compilation album for North America put out by Sire in 1984, pulling the title track single and a combination of album cuts, and b-sides. This song was such a key to the soundtrack of my life in the early 80s: “People are people so why should it be / you and I should get along so awfully.” I still sing along word for word when it comes on First Wave.

It also included the 7-minute plus “Everything Counts (In Larger Amounts)” from the 12″ single of that song. I’m still fleshing out my Depeche Mode collection but they can be hard to find in original pressings.

My copy—via Academy Records in NYC—is a 1980s Specialty pressing with the E A S T around the spindle and the “tm” under the Sire logo.

To search for

@mastodon.hongkongers.net

it looks like it might be Canadian, given all the CBC profiles it's running

Going to find one that looks like a major origin and #Mute #Block and #DomainBlock

mmm... no

Given this:

https://fediverse.observer/mastodon.hongkongers.net

it's Chinese

(Guess "hongkongers.net" should have been a tipoff)

Thanks for the tip...
