Still, this is no rocket science - Hungaro-Austrians (with a real Emperor at that time!) landing on Mars in 1889 sound so much more attractive than Elon #Muskolini still longing to get there in 2025. Extra points go to the careful consideration of Spain's Galicia as a better takeoff location for orbit insertion (that one IS rocket science).

Then again, the real-world space flight countdown almost every living human knows today was invented for a movie to add drama to the takeoff scene - in Fritz Lang's 1929 movie "Frau im Mond". People love stories.
