how to white noise (new method)

#musicproducion #sounddesign

step 1. get a Vital. changing the wavetable is not necessary, although it might be better to use a saw wave with unison and detuning all the way up, and detune power at zero. maybe add a pitch sweep as well. i did none of that though
step 2. go to the effects, turn on the following effects and put them in this order: compressor -> reverb -> chorus
- compressor: leave as default multiband
- reverb: high cut all the way up. EQ not turning the highs down. mix at full. chor amount and fequency all the way up. size can vary. time 64 seconds
- chorus: delay 1 nothing. delay 2, max. depth, max. feedback, max. mix, max
step 3. play literally anything. boom white noise!

after that maybe EQ it add some clipping and push the input gain into it and then record it with like Edison or something. this noise is stereo by default, to make mono white noise use kHs Stereo or something to take out all the width

last time (quoted post/link below) i used like 3 mixer inserts to make the white noise. i just found this method which is SO stupid and i do NOT know why it works. but. here it is

"Reaper has so many good features for game #audio and sound design, but this little playback rate knob is absolutely one of my favorites. As simple as it seems, it can be surprisingly powerful"

Welp it's finally done!

Random sketch I completed during the week.

I'll try making a cover next time.

The Peertube link will work once the video gets aproved

Should I invest in a Zoom H4n Pro or an equally priced Condenser Microphone (like Audio-Technica, Rode, or maybe a pair of sE's).

My goal is to have something to record my acoustic guitar while having the ability to record other sounds for sampling (hence the field recorder).

Other sounds include anything from stuff in the kitchen, outdoor sounds, or old junky instruments.

Are there any #linux people who do #musicproducion on #OpenSUSE? With a low latency kernel and all that jazz? Preferably with #bitwig and VSTs and all that crap. That's where I'm headed in the future so I want to know how much faff there is. Back in the day I used Ubuntu Studio which was great.
Gah, there is so much I want to do that I currently can't! Been ages since I was out doing #photography, or fired up software for #musicproducion, I want to do some #woodworking and build a headboard for my bed, and like 100 more things. God damn #ADD / #ADHD is like a prison sometimes and it makes you set yourself up for failure with everything you don't do.

I definitely miss this awesome home studio. As much as I love my new small, portable setup it was definitely nice having a dedicated space for making music.

I suspect not many people use a Commodore keyboard to make Famicom music…
