Pianist and beatmaker Keifer Shackelford, who goes by his first name alone, is a classically trained musician who has a distinctly laid-back groovy style that brings a hip-hop spin to low-key (and lo-fi) jazz. His melodies come with a mild R&B flavor to some extent, though if anything, they recall the smooth and syncopated flow of '70s and '80s pop jazz in multiple ways. His pieces are typically instrumental, often short affairs that come with a gentle sound that one can wind down to at the day and get lost in thoughts with. There is plenty of warmth to his playing, and restraint. The music is uplifting in tone and can get plenty playful at times.
