The Dish: Fact vs fiction

The Dish is an Aussie classic, set at Murriyang, a.k.a the Parkes radio telescope. Most of the film is based on fact, but what was added for the sake of a (rollicking) good yarn?

The Dish: Fact vs fiction

The Dish is an Aussie classic, set at Murriyang, our Parkes radio telescope. Most of the film is based on fact, but what was added for the sake of a (rollicking) good yarn?

Almost forgot!

Oct 31 is the anniversary of Murriyang starting operations in 1961!

63 years of operation, and it’s still giving us solid science/discoveries.

Iconic Aussie astronomy infrastructure. ANd of course, my fav telescope in the world!

Happy b'day, Dish!

60 Years of Science Wonder – Happy Birthday, Dish | Spaceaustralia

On 31 October 2021, the iconic CSIRO Parkes radio telescope celebrates 60 years of operations since it first opened - a period filled with discovery, resolving some big questions in astronomy, and thousands of personal stories, all linked to The Dish.

Great result about the polarization of radio emissions from magnetars from Parkes/Murriyang. #ATRASC2024 #URSI #ATNF #Parkes #TheDish #murriyang

YYYYYYAAAAAAAYYYY!!!!

Today's @APoD was taken by our team mate, the excellent John Sarkissian! And look, it is off our beautiful dish Murriyang (Parkes radio telescope) grabbing signal and data from IM-1.
