It doesn’t take many votes to get a seat in the Senate and One Nation knows it. A primary vote of just 4–6% is often enough when preferences from other right-wing micro parties flow their way.
Add to that a media ecosystem—hello Sky After Dark—that gives them relentless coverage (even when it’s negative), and you’ve got a recipe for survival.

Over the last 11 weeks, TalkTV has been spouting transphobic hate again and again – totally ignoring the law on broadcasting balance. But the regulator has done nothing. Ofcom must take action to stop TalkTV airing attacks on trans people without broadcasting the views of those who support trans rights. And it’s up to us to make it happen. We know this works: just five months ago over 70,000 people complained to Ofcom after GB News aired a dangerous lie about the LGBTQ+ community.
