Well officials announced that we’ve eradicated them from the United States. "It is a rare day when the humans actually get to win one against the insects," said Sven Spichiger, an entomologist with the #WashingtonState #Washington Department of Agriculture
Northern giant hornets pose significant threats to #pollinators and native insects. They can wipe out a #honeybee hive in as little as 90 minutes, decapitating the #bees #bee and then defending the hive as their own, taking the brood to feed their own young.

The Washington state and U.S. Departments of Agriculture announced its eradication Wednesday from U.S. soil. That comes five years after the hornet was first spotted near the Canadian border in that Northwest state. Officials said there've been no new detections of the hornet in Washington since 2021 and called that a major success. Experts have said the hornet is also considered eradicated in Canada.
