GrapheneOS says it won't comply with age verification laws & will stay available worldwide

GrapheneOS refuses to comply with regulations requiring age data collection, prioritizing privacy over regional laws. This stance aligns with criticisms of mandatory OS-level age verification and appeals to privacy-focused users.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@MozillaAI/116279201448628866

Mozilla is shitting the bed and pretending it's a gourmet dinner.

All they had to do was build a decent web browser, and they failed.

In the long term, we have the @servo project to look forward to: an independent browser engine spun off from Mozilla Research, and currently stewarded by the Linux Foundation Europe.

It's not usable as a day-to-day browser yet, but it hopefully will be a worthy alternative to Chromium and Gecko in the future (2026 roadmap, please? 🥺)

In the meantime, we have Mullvad Browser, @Waterfox, and @librewolf to keep us company ❤️

@mastodonmigration @Remittancegirl @jon I like Vivaldi. I downloaded it about 3 months ago, loved it and even donated 100€.

But then I stumbled on this: https://privacytests.org

I’ve since settled on Mullvad.

Sure, it’s missing a load of features like bookmark sync and password mgmt, plus all the extra Vivaldi goodies, but you can’t argue with privacy.

Which browsers are best for privacy?

An open-source privacy audit of popular web browsers.

Also still going strong in refusing Mozilla's nonsense are Mullvad Browser and @Waterfox.

I've been using Mullvad for a long while now and I'm loving it! Thanks @mullvadnet

I am seeing a lot of people who do not realize or understand this:

Vivaldi is proprietary. By moving from Firefox to Vivaldi, you are giving up your own freedoms.

Instead, use something that is truly open-source, respects your freedoms, and respects your privacy.

Check out @librewolf @zenbrowser @Waterfox or @mullvadnet Browser.
