Final thoughts on this anime season:

Best in Season: May I Ask For One Final Thing? Absolute cinema this. I love Scarlet. I love Sanya-sama. I loved the two masochistic (albeit in very different ways) princes vying for Scarlet's affections. Solid 4.5/5 would watch again. Buying this on bluray when I can.

Worst in Season: GNOSIA. I can only imagine that James Beckett over at ANN must've been charmed by Terrenezza, or be a GNOSIA himself, to not tear this piece of trash to shreds like it so richly desserves. I will give GNOSIA credit for one thing though: its sheer stupidity caused me to stick out Mugen Gacha just to see which show was worse, but lo and behold Mugen Gacha actually got better. I'll give it half a star for the gender ambiguity of some characters, I guess.

Unexpected Dark Horse: Mugen Gacha, aka Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon. I absolutely hated episode 2 of this show, to the point where I nearly dropped it. But I decided hey, why not make it a game and see which is worse, GNOSIA or this? Cue surprise when Mugen Gacha turned into a fun, cathartic, unapologetic revenge fantasy that managed to have more heart than something like this desserves, and certainly more intelligence than GNOSIA. I mentioned before, I can respect a show that knows what it is and embraces it without pretense, and that is certainly true of Mugen Gacha. 3.5 stars.

The Cutest of Cutes: It's a tough call between Alma-Chan Wants to Be A Family and Reincarnator, but I have to give it to Alma-chan because I just happen to love autistic blue smols. Both shows were very therapeutic for me during the past couple months, which have been very stressful for me. Both get 3.5 stars.

"Chichi wa Eiyuu, Haha wa Seirei, Musume no Watashi wa Tenseisha": The second cutest-of-cutes. Crossover with Alma-chan when? 3.5 stars.

Shuumatsu Touring: It's like Girls Last Tour but not as good. Airi is cute as heck tho. 3 Stars.

A Manga-ka's Yuriful Workplace: I expected GAY. GAY was delivered. Satisfied. Solid 3.5 stars.

Towa no Yuugure: In the post-apocalypse, people will be polyamorous and pansexual, androids will be able to have sex, get drunk, and sometimes not even know they're androids, slaves will have barcodes on their butts, and a man will go on a quest to find his 200 year-old girlfriend. It was fun, I guess. Would I have kept it had there been more good shows this season? I dunno. 3/5.

Last night's anime report:

Towa no Yugure: first half of the episode, man I'm bored. But it is kind of interesting that in this world, polyamory is not only accepted, but the norm. Monogamy is seen as weird! And then the mad tea party with Yugure's sisters happens.

A Manga-ka's Weirdly Wonderful Workplace: YES MORE GAY. MORE AND MORE GAY.

Mugen Gacha: Oh, this gon' be gud. Well, if they don't fuck it up I guess. On the one hand this show is absolute trash. On the other hand it knows it's absolute trash and just revels in it. Every non-human is cartoonishly evil and utterly reprehensible, which is silly but exactly what you expect from this kind of show. Light himself is no saint, which is a slight subversion of the norm, and thankfully so.

May I Ask For One Final Thing: Scarlet's back in action just in time to save the smol from the creepy sis-con. Or ARE Dios and Sanya really related? Maybe just another of Dios's lies.

This Monster Wants to Eat Me: We learn that maybe Shiori has known Hinako for a lot longer than Hinako's known her. Hmmm....

I didn't post a report for Friday night's anime.. so here's both last night and Friday night:

Mugen Gacha sure likes to throw around rape threats. But, what do you expect, it's a don't-think-about-it-much popcorn revenge porn. I'm also lovin the dark elf voiced by Koyasu, who is clearly not in lecher mode for once. I was hoping to see why he put up with that other obnoxious elf, but I guess Light/Dark-kun is going to kill that one soon.

Speaking of rapey lechers, the Ranma remake introduces Happosai again. Boy does that character hit different in 2025. Ugh. Wish they had just forgotten he existed.

This Monster Wants to Eat Me keeps moving toward a yuri polycule. Excellent. This is the way.

Speaking of yuri polycule, A Manga-ka's Weirdly Wonderful Workplace ALSO makes a move in that direction. Yes. Keep going. The yuris must be had!

And speaking of Yuris of a different sort GNOSIA finally earns a DROP. I believe it's reached peak stupid with episode 5. It believes so too, since it introduced a pure fanservice character to try to keep viewer attention. Not gonna work, fam. This show is done.

I await my sunday night comfy adorable smol animus with even greater anticipation due to RL things.

Last Night's Anime report:

You know what? I'm gonna have to apologize to Mugen Gacha (aka My Gift Lvl 9999 Unlimited Gacha: Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon, I'm Out for Revenge!). Don't get me wrong, it's still trash, and episode 2 was abso-fuckin-lutely terrible, but it's far from the worst show this season. That title is now solidly in Gnosia's idiotic hands. Mugen Gacha, however, KNOWS it is trash. Last night's episode had a pair of minor characters named Gilbert and Suvellan, which I still chuckle at. And come on, MC-kun's name is "Light" and he chooses "Dark" as his undercover name? Yeah, this show knows it's stupid, and does not apologize for it or pretend it's not, unlike Gnosia. It leans into it. "This is what I am, take it or leave it," it says. I can respect that.

Also trashy? Towa no Yugure. But still entertaining. The mafia story draws a little too neatly to an implied incestuous close, but I forgive it because that's clearly not what the show is about anyway. Yugure keeps mumbling about marriage, but seems to be warming up to the idea of forming a triad with Akira and the oppai loli, who is very much in favor of it. Akira, being a typical anime protag, wants none of it.

Season's Best Show "May I ask for one Final Thing" and Best Girl Scarlet sends yet another annoying person to the moon, this one some kind of church inquisitor. Also the show introduces an adorable Saint girl who is totally attached to Scarlet. Good stuff.

"This Monster Wants to Eat Me" resolves the conflict between Miko and Shiori peacefully... or does it? We learned a lot about Miko in the meantime. I'm sure things will turn out ok next episode, Miko features prominently in the credits after all, implying the story is about the three of them... not just Hinako and Shiori. Yuri triad pl0x?
