MPEG – revoluce digitální audiovize
Odvážná vize, která v roce 1988 v jedné kodaňské kavárně odstartovala digitální revoluci. Ta díky „biologickým hackům“ a šílené matematice vměstnala svět filmu i hudby do našich kapes. Povíme si o příběhu jménem MP3, kteroý v německých laboratořích pomohl vybrousit hlas Suzanne Vegy, a o tom, jak následně fenomén Napster definitivně rozbil starý řád hudebního průmyslu. Seznamte se s fascinujícím příběhem aliance MPEG, jejíž technická architektura dnes hýbe světem streamování. https://open.spotify.com/episode/2QNbXVA0qBbYINnRLj2l7J?si=ILNnp790Tq6YtQhacF4dYw […]https://pepikhipik.com/2026/05/09/mpeg-revoluce-digitalni-audiovize/
This document extends the MOQT Streaming Format (MSF) by registering the "m2ts" packaging value for carrying MPEG-2 Transport Stream and M2TS source packets over Media Over QUIC Transport. It defines catalog fields for transport-stream track description and specifies receiver and relay behavior for joining, switching, and validating packetized streams.

Now that #Dolby has launched a #patent lawsuit over #AV1, unless I'm mistaken we're about to have a repeat of the #Unisys #GIF patent situation where all #browsers must remove support for widely-used image and video formats, namely AV1, #AVIF, #WebP, #WebM, #VP8, and #VP9.
This is really bad. The only other widely supported video codec is #MPEG-4 (which is also patented) and the only other widely supported lossy image format is #JPEG (which is rather inefficient).
What do we do?
