The Traitor Within (1942)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Traitor_Within

This one looks like someone didn't even get around to finishing it. The lower part is almost abstract.

Cloak and Dagger (1946)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloak_and_Dagger_(1946_film)
poster language: French
Literal translation into French (and Dutch?) for once, and a very literal dagger right there in blue and white.

This is great: colour scheme, composition, lighting, all solid, but that main red font is a little incongruous. Too cheerful.

Sudden Fear (1952)

It's a “suspense melodrama”, whatever that is.

We love a good staircase in the Film Noir world, don't we? Particularly seen from a dramatic angle.

The Letter (1940)

Whoa, easy on the fonts there. I like a good typeface as much as the next guy but less is more. Also have you ever seen smoke? Not how smoke works.

Interesting that it's two images of Davis and none of her co-stars. I might suspect they wanted to cover up the fact that it's set in the far east among colonial settlers.

The Sellout (1952)

Classic image for a boxing movie, I guess there are only so many interesting angles you can get in a small square flat space.

I do feel like he should have got more than thirty dollars, considering all the drama it's led to.

I Died a Thousand Times (1955)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Died_a_Thousand_Times
poster language: Italian
The colours here are wild and the main figure is really intriguing. At first glance he looks like a singer passionately performing.

The Italian title means “It all finishes at six”, which is rather dull.

Apparently this movie is a scene-for-scene remake of “High Sierra”?
