@CaptiveSteel
There's an ARMY of nerds here thinking this sounds like a Microsoft thing and warming up their #movetolinux fingers

But, y'know, waiting for more info

It has been 3 years since I moved to Linux 🥳

I did not regret even once!

#Microsoft is making it so that #Windows10 users with paused Windows Updates get shown the "Activate Windows" watermark.
Updating will remove the watermark.

Oh and on top of this, after you update, you can only pause windows update for a maximum of one month instead of three.

I am so sick of companies of all shapes and sizes ruling our lives. This is MY COMPUTER.
This is the same exact bullshit that's the problem in #GamesPreservation

Confession: Ever since I moved all operations to Linux, I've been using KDE connect with both my laptop and my desktop, linked to my phone. It's super convenient for quick bouncing files, and having controls for things like media on my phone is just neat.

For whatever reason, it's very satisfying to shut off my desktop from my phone.

I'm honestly not sure why.

Current status of my #MoveToLinux :

I haven't done much on my computers at all recently. Too busy elsewhere.

But I've decided to get used to it on a small, underpowered laptop, first, just writing.

So far, so good.

Plus side:
I fixed an annoying problem with the trackpad that bugged me on Windows – setting probably hidden too deep.

Obsidian, Firefox are exactly the same. No learning curve.

Minus: I have to learn a new keyboard for some characters, so my touch typing speed has gone down.

« When such support ends it is time to, at least, update the OS to a newer version, although in some cases that might mean buying new hardware (at least more disk space and memory, although Windows 10 may require a new machine).

Another option is to change to an alternative #OS that supports your hardware, e.g. #Linux supports quite old hardware and should be able to run 64-bit versions on CPUs from the past 10-15 years. »
