Following #MountainMeadows massacre of 7 Sep 1857, #Mormons hastily buried victims. Local families took in surviving children. Victims' possessions were auctioned off. After Civil War & blatant #obstruction, investigations resulted in a mere 9 indictments during 1874. Only John D. Lee went on trial. Legend has it that a curse fell upon the families of all the murderers who were never brought to justice - including Brigham Young, who ordered the killings.
