Bald ist es endlich wieder so weit:

Seit 5 Jahren gibt es dieses Jahr erstmals wieder das große #Dulcimer Treffen in #Ludwigsburg

Am 02.11.2024 dreht sich für 1 Tag alles um den #Mountaindulcimer inklusive Workshops, Vorträgen und Präsentationen.

@redbanjer By #mountaindulcimer do you mean lap or hammer?I used to live near a dulcimer shop (no,seriously) and they sold (and made) both. Lap dulcimers are fun but if I were going to buy a dulcimer I’d have to save up for the hammer dulcimer. If you like banjos and old time music, you might appreciate this dentist we have to drive by occasionally. I point it out to my family every time we pass it and they collectively cringe.

Learning the mountain dulcimer after a lifetime of playing classical piano is interesting. My brain REALLY wants to play it like a keyboard -- percussively, stretching all my fingers across the frets instead of sliding the first three -- and overwriting those patterns is not coming easy.

I had to admit defeat and cut off all my nails tonight.. except for the most excellent thumbnail on my left hand which is basically glorious and it's never grown this long without peeling before.

Also, fun fact... it's probably going to have to go soon as it's a bit too long for #mountaindulcimer playing... and because I also play #guitar and #ukulele I never have long left hand nails anyway..

Basically, my right hand was down to 2 long nails and 1 split when I was fingerpicking earlier.
