The setting is a rocky alpine meadow with patches of grass.

Die weiße Silberwurz („Holtasóley“) ist seit 2004 Islands Nationalblume. Ihre weißen, achtblättrigen Blüten sind mir bereits in den Westfjorden aufgefallen. Jetzt nehme ich die silbrig behaarten Blätter besonders wahr – sie schützen die Pflanze vor Wind und Kälte. Häufig bedeckt die Silberwurz weite Flächen auf kargen Böden.

Next in my Canada 🇨🇦 series: the Northwest Territories with its territorial symbols the gyrfalcon and mountain avens flowers on my hand-carved linocut map of NWT. The block was inked 'à la poupée' (with different colours, gray-brown, green and yellow, in different areas) and printed by hand on lovely Japanese kozo (or mulberry) paper.
