An iconic Route 66 roadside respite

We had the opportunity to stay at one of America’s most iconic roadside motels — the Wigwam Motel Village located along Old Route 66 in Holbrook, Arizona.

While not necessarily a politically correct name/theme in the present day (they are technically tepees for example), this quaint motel exudes tons of Mid-Century modern cuteness and charm with a hefty touch of Southwestern flare. Adding even more pizazz is the collection of antique automobiles and small trucks parked throughout the site.

A small museum of the motel’s storied history and of the surrounding region is located in the back portion of the front office.

If you are ever passing through Holbrook from https://www.nps.gov/pefo/index.htm or by the town on Interstate 40, consider taking a few minutes to see and admire this historic roadside attraction that’s been successfully operating for three-quarters of a century.
