On #Thursday #evening, the #protests that have been ongoing since #Monday escalated after the #fatal #incident in which #taxi #driver #Affen #Kurniawan was run over. Another person was #injured . The unrest began as a joint #union-student #movement against what they describe as the " #corrupt #elite " and a #crushing #cost-of-living #crisis.

S1 of #mortel was a satisfying watch. The best thing about it for me was the (I thought) excellent writing and acting developing the relationship between the two main boys, Victor and Sofiane. A lot of other good things to say about it:

• Gorgeous #cinematography with a clear, relevant visual theme
• Surprising and (usually) kind twists and turns developing the initially unpleasant characters--very few or no actual villains, despite lots of actions hurting others
• Tangled webs of lies & conflicting motivations didn't seem contrived
• Tangled webs, jarring juxtapositions of action and experiences reflected in (IMO) very effective parallel film sequences
• Excellent musical choices

IMO the "teenagers" being clearly 20something actors wasn't difficult to swallow.

Kida Khodr Ramadan – „Testo II.“ (2025)

Ich glaube, ich bin (bald) zu alt für den Scheiß. Die Zielgruppe für „Testo“ sind all die, denen das Smartphone nur mehr durch einen chirurgischen Eingriff aus den Händen entfernt werden kann. Die, deren Aufmerksamkeitsspanne nach 15 Minuten erschöpft ist. Wenn ich länger darüber nachdenke, dann würde ich wohl noch ein paar altersdiskriminierende Klischees mehr finden. Aber dafür hab‘ ich keine Zeit… Die Taktrate des Lebens ist auch in der Mediathek gestiegen. Und diese Serie muss doch am Stück gesehen werden… (ARD, Neu)
