I give all credit to Anthony Albanese and Jim Chalmers for the erudite way in which they are navigating the Stage 3 tax cut time bomb that the LNP legislated before the last election.
It was bad legislation, something for which the LNP was and is renowned.
It was designed to come into effect after they LOST the last election, which they knew was coming. Basically, they left a live legislative time bomb for Labor.
I watched Jim Chalmers on 7:30 tonight where he calmly and clearly explained the changes to be made to the Stage 3 tax cuts to render them fairer, more equitable and in line with cost of living remediation needs for those in the workforce who most need it.
#Morriscum and his cronies laid this time bomb for Labor and Labor will successfully defuse it.
You'll still get a tax cut but it won't be at the expense of those who can least afford it and it won't reward the uber rich (who will get a smaller tax cut anyway).
I don't regard Labor's actions as a broken election promise. I regard them as a sensible reworking, based on current economic circumstances, that were not foreseen by the previous #LNP Government, even if they ever had the nous or desire to see anything beyond their own voter base needs.
