After developing callouses and spending a couple months figuring out how to avoid pain in my fretting hand joints, I have finally reached a point where I can play the guitar for more than 20 minutes at a time!
But alas it looks like my body isn't the only thing I can break 😭
At least this is a lot cheaper to replace than a broken guitar or even my missing string

Writing the guitar parts for some of my songs now that I've got a good grasp on some covers. I'm kind of starting with the easy stuff, which may come back to bite me bc fast riffs etc will take me longer to learn how to play well, but hopefully the practice in the meantime will help me make the harder parts better when I get to them

When you're trying to record your own music but your chord progression is similar to a song from Phantom of the Opera and you keep playing that instead  #morganMakesMusic
Drums are definitely harder in Ardour with DrumGizmo than they were in LMMS, but now that I've gotten used to it I realize it's so worth it! In LMMS, if I wanted to use the open hihat, I could, but it cut off as soon as it was onto the next 8th note. With DrumGizmo, if I play an open hihat and take my hand off the key, it keeps making sound until it naturally stops--unless I hit the key for a closed hihat or the hihat pedal! It works like a real hihat! #morganMakesMusic #drumGizmo
*sigh* all I want is to practice the guitar part along with the drums, but it appears DrumGizmo is not aware that I'm playing the same measure on a loop so it just keeps using more RAM to remember the same fucking samples over and over again until it runs out and becomes so slow I can't hit the stop button bc my mouse is lagging too much to accurately click anything 🤦 there's gotta be a better way #morganMakesMusic #ardour #drumGizmo #linuxMusicProduction
One thing that's annoying abt music production on Linux is that while ik how to get my computer to recognize a keyboard, I have no idea how to get the keyboard to recognize my computer. So unlike when @roari uses it, it still plays aloud when it's plugged in and I can't mute it 🙃 not that bad on piano or guitar parts but it's probably annoying as fuck when I'm using it for drums lol #morganMakesMusic #linuxMusicProduction
Context: I have no way to record my guitar yet, and I want the MIDI recordings to sound as similar as possible to the way I play my songs on the guitar, and on the guitar I play power chords with the octave
Problem: while I am able to reach an octave playing the keyboard, it's really hard to switch chords
Solution: playing a single chord with two hands, since I'm recording the bass part separately anyway
(Think I'll start using a hashtag for easier searching/muting. How about #morganMakesMusic)
