Excited to finally use the #mushtodon hashtag! Found ~2lbs of #morel #mushrooms today before tapping out!

With great joy I report that I have found morels for the first time. My family used to tell me stories of foraging for them when they were growing up in their farming communities, and I always looked for them in my local woods as a small child, but I think we just didn't have the right habitat. Just one day of rain this week and these beauties popped up, in an area with lots of dead logs and thick leaf litter. They were found next to well-rotted logs surrounded by a cluster of healthy-looking elm trees. Probably Morchella americana. #nature #fungi #mushroom #mushrooms #foraging #mushtodon #morel

Morels (exact species uncertain, but we're working on it!) found growing on woodchip by a busy road in Bath yesterday.
