I'm involved in a half term event for children and parents at our local library Wednesday with the theme 'How Animals Survive the Winter' and I have a craft activity where kids make a hibernating bat (it hangs upside down, as they do).

I'm also going to read some stories to them from Joseph Murphy-James's Dingle Valley Series, the second book where Charlie Crow fluffs up his feathers against the cold of winter (another survival strategy).

If you want to read something to the kids, I can recommend Joe's novels.

This was 2020, when my Boxer Micky had been gone a few months. Sitting out there without him, despite there being other dogs around, made me pretty sad and moody. Just a cell phone photo but I liked it.
