Shelly Manne/Bill Evans - Empathy

The first time I listened to this I was taken aback…Evans isn't usually this playful, but in this session with Manne (and Monty Budwig on bass), everyone's cutting loose.

Turns out this 1962 session was recorded when they were sharing a bill at the Village Vanguard. Riverside let Evans record for Verge, and there you go…one-off, and fun.
