Well, turns out I did get a shot or two worth posting.
The bolts are hitting the Growler Mountains in Cabeza Prieta NWR. I was to the east, on a hill in Organ Pipe National Monument.
I'll post the others pics on my blog with a short story about the evening later.

That quickly turned into this!
Half an hour later, and it has all passed. The gutters are still running with water, but the road is drying out already.
I was sitting on the porch catching flies for my lizard fren, looked up and noticed a small cloud with some virga and a rainbow. Checked the radar and saw this was happening right nearby. A few minutes later I had two cameras set up on it at the edge of town. No lightning, alas.
