It's #halftime in one of the most anticipated games of the year in the #CFL. That would be the "Labour Day Classic" (though it's the day before labour day...) with the #Saskatchewan #Roughriders hosting the #Winnipeg Blue Bombers. It's the biggest grudge match of the year for both teams, possibly the biggest in the league period.

After a slow offensive start, the Roughriders came to life in the 2nd quarter and overturned the #Bombers' lead, which had been 10-0. The Riders now lead it 14-10.

But the reason I type this is to have an opportunity to re-tell one of my favourite stories. The colour commentator on #TSN's broadcast is Glen #Suitor - possibly the best sports commentator I've ever seen on any network, for any sport. Just listening to him makes me feel Football Smart ( #TM ). Glen is normally unflappable, but a few years ago, this happened:

The Blue Bombers had been dominating the league for a few seasons. Mike O'Shea was the coach, as he is now. They had a quarterback who could do no wrong, a receiving corps that could work miracles, and running backs that could penetrate any defensive line and move the ball.

Glen was talking about this, and he said "Now, Winnipeg has a quarterback that can really throw it, and a running back who can really run it. And if you're coach Mike O'Shea, now you've got a problem, because you've only got one ball."

You could tell he realized what he was saying as he was saying it, but he kept it together. A true pro.
