Android file systems can be quite finicky

This phone which is now devoid of a microSD card, behaves like it is new, just as few years ago.

Even though this is not a mistake of the brand, with this cheapest phone option and their mid-range phone option I've had bad to horrific experiences.

This cheap one has the *worst* touch screen that I've ever felt. It scratches very easy, even when you work with clean hands, and it often has false touch detection
The mid-range phone literally heated it self to DEATH. The heatsink design and heat distribution on it, are the worst I've ever seen. That phone died within a year.

That caused a Android financial problem

The cheap phone constantly kills processes that have to run in background especially if they are Open Source based

I could go on but this will suffice; the cheap phone is degraded to a practical GSM with just the FediVerse and some small clients running on it.

The mid-range phone died an untimely death kicking me away from the brand, most likely forever.

Android file systems can be finicky
Micro SD cards are not treated in a proper manner on many entry level Androids

One of mine became so slow that I just yanked out the MicroSD card, everything is backed up, told the system to forget about it and the speed went from molasses slow to Super snappy however 128GB of storage is now gone

I had degraded the phone to a basic yes no phone because the power button had broken, I fixed it a couple of hours ago, but do not plan to upgrade the usage of this phone again

It's of course fast enough and roomy enough for my small FediVerse clients

Ah, the #classic 🤦 "we discovered something obvious and decided to blog about it" trope. Apparently, #regex engines have been lying to us for decades, promising #speed but delivering #molasses 🐢. Who knew a computer science relic from the '70s would be today's tech bloggers' favorite bandwagon? 🎉

finding all regex matches has always been O(n²). even in the engines built to prevent it | ian erik varatalu

every regex engine that promises linear time breaks that promise the moment you ask for all matches. the problem has been there since the 70s, hiding in the iteration loop.

I figured out a way to hold the stupid molasses jug over the kettle while it takes forever to drain. I'll be fermenting this with wild yeast I captured from some flowers I picked in The Bahamas.

Brewing With Sugar - All About Beer

Those first few months of craft beer epiphany are heady indeed, filled with moment after moment of wide-eyed revelation. These palate-popping new brews had little in common with the mainstream stuff that you seemingly couldn’t live without. Craft beer had flavor, dark beer was actually delicious, hops in excess were heavenly, and most importantly, it
