I just #reported a very cheesy account, completely AI generated (also the comments). They wanted to collect people's #DNA (and you had to pay 20 something $ for it!). it was intended to give the impression being something official from the EU. At best, it was a scam; at worst, extremely dangerous.
It took only minutes and the account was pulverised. 😊 This service you don't get on big platforms!

If you're the admin of a Mastodon server, you can moderate your server's trending posts, hashtags, links and recommended accounts. Here's how to do it:

Moderating your server's trends is really important, as it means you can pre-emptively prevent nasty or hateful content appearing in your server's trending sections. You can also optionally prevent entire accounts from appearing in trends.
Over the past few days, we had a couple of these accounts register on our instance. Usually boosting one recent post and then writing random word chains like this one. They come with a profile picture and a bio in their profiles.
If you run/moderate an instance, you might want to check you recently registered users.
Tasks made: bytemate ,streamy ,blerp ,tangia bots added in twitch ; two gordon ramsay (five in total), mortal kombat wins, email, pobox, tts voices ,twitter* and instagram* ; Tangia ,Blerp ,VoxBot services enabled ; last 2x reports of toxic political stream channels to twitch and kick sent.** (* funny ** doing it now...)

Community moderators have the ability to escalate advisories to recommendations (or retract frivolous advisories, perhaps), with the entire feed visible in FIRES.
Those who receive an advisory are welcome to also log in, contest the advisory or report, and provide counter evidence of their own (to the moderators, we aren't having troll wars in public here).
And if you want to use Pelago to set up your own FIRES server and create your own advisories for your own moderation network, you certainly can.
